BOTOX® Injections in Tampa Florida
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is made from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It was originally used for the treatment of eye spasms in the 1970’s. In April, 2000 the FDA approved BOTOX® for the treatment of wrinkles.
How is BOTOX® used?
Fine wrinkles and lines caused by facial expressions such as smiling and squinting can be improved by weakening the muscles that cause the lines to appear. Small injections of BOTOX® will weaken these muscles for 3 to 6 months. The maximum effect of the injection is not seen for 4-7 days and will wear off after several months.
By carefully evaluating your facial structure and appearance during animation and while relaxed, the surgeon will be able to not only reduce visible wrinkles, but shape your brows and eyes. In some patients, the upper lips may be treated to produce a more full appearance.
